For so many years, a deep dark secret has kept me in hiding, yes, not many people ever realized that lurking in the back of my mind was always this insecurity that has lasted since childhood. I have kept it well hidden from most people and shared it with no one.

Because of shame? Embarrassment? Timidity? Inadequacy?
All of these, I suppose, but really it’s a realization –
I WAS NOT MADE PERFECT.

WHAT? WHAT? WHAT??? how could this be? The scriptures tell us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

So now that we are in the year of 2010—so many things are accepted and few folks take notice of “an imperfection” such as mine.

I had been told all my life by my siblings – (and let me tell you there are advantages to being the baby but there are also great disadvantages too. ) I know these family members who loved me dearly were just trying to protect me from the snickers and stares and comments about “my imperfection”—but they also made me very self conscious too.

After 67 years of hiding my secret, I have finally come out of the closet. I AM FREE.
I was finally granted permission by TWO to go ahead and jump in and reveal my imperfection, because in this day and time, everyone has joined the parade. So Count me in.

I NOW OWN 2 pairs of sandals. I have NEVER worn them EVER before because of my long second TOES. They always called me “the string bean toe.” well, wouldn’t you hide it too???

As we really began to look around with serious consideration, we realized that actually, not too many people have pretty toes and feet.

So hip hip hooray I have been SET FREE and I am wearing sandals that are cool in this sweltering heat in the south and I am not having to keep the feet secretly hidden in closed toe shoes.

I AM FREE! I AM FREE!
